This week we are going to begin taking a look at Hudson, a widely used continuous build and integration tool. Hudson is a state of the art continuous build tool which now has seen wide adoption for software engineering. Hudson supports most of the more prominent source control management (SCM) tools, such as CVS, Subversion, Git, Perforce and Clearcase.

In addition, there is a wide array of plug-ins that can be installed with Hudson to support many different types of continuous integration needs. Hudson is open source and, along with its plug-ins, is supported by an enthusiastic user community. If you have any need, or think you do, for a continuous integration solution, give Hudson a try. Being free, the price is certainly right!

Of course, everything begins with an installation. Installing Hudson isn’t an overly difficult process, but there are a few tweaks and turns that I’ve not seen adequately documented elsewhere. Download our free resource for step-by-step instructions on how to install Hudson on Windows. Check back and let us know what you think about this blog post!
